I think that timing is one large element in overall comedy. When doing a comedy film I would do use this to my advantage by making sure that jokes align and things in that nature.
I don't like that in comedy movies directors look to specifically cast comedians. I believe that if it is a good actor then the movie will be good. When directors do this it makes people use to the same faces and it's nice to see new faces in the film world.
