Location Overall I'm doing this as a solo project. The beginning scene will be shot in my friend's house. He will get ready and then an action match shot will start as he walks out the house. The rest will be filmed on Las Olas Beach. More around Beach Place where there is stores, restaurants and more people.  Participants In this my friend Victor is going to be the main character. His bestfriend will be my brother. Who catches up with him at the beach. I will act as the main love interest. The rest of the participants will consist of my family and friends.  Health My parents will be on set as we film. They will also drive us there for safety purposes. Also we will make sure to keep distance around other people that we are not with because of the pandemic.  Schedule  The filming is expected to start around the 5th and 6th of March. These days if the weather is good for filming, meaning it is not cold or cloudy, or even too windy, we will record the beach scenes. The weekend aft

Font For the font I wanted something fun that will go along with the music well. I didn't want anything basic. I also wanted something that would match the scenery nicely, weather that is the beach or downtown. For my font I picked Bauhaus 93, in bold  ( Bauhaus 93)  Contrast For the color I want a light blue for most however it may change between that and a light pink so that it won't blend into the background. I'm also going to have a boarder around it to make the letters pop more and so that it is easier to read. Ex;  Directed By: Nylamarie Belle  (The boarder would not transfer onto blogger so I will insert an image) For the size I want everyone that participated to feel that they were helpful. Meaning I want everything to be the same size. The last names will be 2 sizes bigger than the first and what their part is in helping the production will be 4 times bigger. Ex;  Directed By: Nylamarie Belle Working Title  The title that I like most for this film right now is &

Title Research: All the bright places

Image
All the bright places is a 2020 teen romance film. This film is unique because of it's incorporation with mental health and how it effects relationships.    What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  The entertainment companies logo is the first to go up. Then the name of the movie. This opening is not like the others I have seen since it doesn't show any names of actors or the production team. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?   A clip of a low camera angle of a person running and continues at different angles of the man. Followed by a pov shot of him looking at a girl standing on a bridge looking down. He then runs up to her, they seem to speak more with their eyes than anything being that there is really just cutaway scenes of them looking at each other and then doing actions based off of that.  What connotations do these images carry?  It tells the audience that the girl has mental health issues and is contemplating suicide and the man has

Title Research: Grease

Image
Grease 1978 is a romance movie that they had on artofthetitle.com. On this website was the opening sequence of the movie. The overall website has tons of opening sequences and many different ideas for title designs. The movie Grease is one of my favorite movies and the opening is iconic.  What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  First the title of the movie is shown on screen. Then the two main characters names. Afterward the rest of the important cast. Then who the music is by, lastly the producers, who its edited by and directors. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The images of the actors, images of cars and the establishing shot of the school at the end.  What connotations do these do these images carry? In a way they show the personality of each character. Showing their bedroom and how they get ready in an animated opening. Followed by their headshot also in an animated version.  How does this film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

Title research: My girl

Image
My girl is the 1991 romance film that I found on Netflix. I think that this is very interesting choice when it comes to romance movies because it is about very young children.  What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  First the production companies logo comes up followed by a blank black screen that has the producers names. Then the name of the the female lead role on a blank page. The screen goes blank after a few scenes and shows the movie title. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?  The first clip is of one of the main characters. It then shows her kitchen and her father. She goes outside it shows the front door and then when she goes back inside more of the house.  What connotations do these images carry?  They show where the main character is and where she will most likely be since she is young and can not go out much. It also brings in the characters quickly. Unlike many other movies where more characters develop later on in the film. How does th

Title Research: Five Feet Apart

Image
Five Feet Apart is a 2019 teen romance film. I found this movie in the romance section on Netflix. Netflix is very organized when it comes to movie genres. Being in this class I learned where the moving opening ends and it was very easy to watch and understand on my own without a website that specifically tells me where to stop. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  It starts with the film companies logo. Along with the title of the movie are the only titles in the opening. What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?  The very beginning starts with a baby and then clips that seem to be filmed on a non-professional camera. Like they were made for fun on someone's phone filled with cheerful clips What connotations do these images carry?  These images start the movie off happily. The audience will assume that it is a joyful film based on the happy videos and pictures they seen. Especially since there was nothing but the happy clips  How does the film esta

Title Research: Whatever It Takes

Image
Whatever it takes is a 2000's teen romance movie that I found on artofthetitle.com. This website is very resourceful. It contains many movie openings to many different genres in all different years. This helps because you can really see how the movie industry changed over time.  What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  First there is a blank screen with only the name of the producers. Afterward music plays and the title comes up with the background image of makeup continuing with the names of the actors. Then the team that helped, casting, co-producers, costume design etc.  What images are prioritized in the opening sequences?  2 minutes of the opening is used on a girl getting ready. Having many images of the her makeup and brushes and clothing. There are 2 establishing shots in the opening, one of the houses of the girl and her male neighbor. Then another of the school they go to. Also an image of them getting into and being in the car. What connotations do these

Movie Convection: Five Feet Apart

Image
Five Feet Apart is a romance movie released in 2019. In this movie they have one of the stereotypical teenage love stories. This is very common in the film world today. Especially on streaming services, such as Netflix. In this film the teens have an enemy to lovers relationship. I really like this because, it's a build up on the character development in how they fall for each other. At first it shows how mean the characters are to each other. Over the time period however, they begin to show a little sympathy for each other. Then eventually they fall in love but however, their love must come to an end. Although it is not widely liked I honestly enjoyed the way it ended. In this movie instead of the main characters ending up together like they usually do they instead decided they could not be together. This puts a realistic image on relationships like this. In the end everything may not turn out well even though the couple worked hard towards it. Putting out into the audience that n

Movie Convention: To All The Boys I've Loved Before P.S I Still Love You

Image
The movie "To All The Boy's I've Loved Before P.S  I Still Love You" is the sequel Netflix original movie to "To All The Boy's I've Loved Before". Personally I liked this movie better than the first one because of the plot. I did like the element of the characters they had in this movie. The first movie had the representation of the stereotypical relationship between the jock and quiet/shy girl. In this movie the representation continues yet, it adds another character. The character added is a past childhood friend/crush of the shy girl, creating a sort of love triangle. I really like that they had this in the movie because it catches the audiences' attention. Also in a way creates a competition between the two boys, waiting to see who comes out to be her boyfriend. It creates suspension and has the audience wanting to know more about who she will end up with. I also liked the element of being in a non-perfect relationship. It shows the effects

Movie Convection: All the bright places

Image
The film all the bright places released in 2020 was very unique. Based off the book the movie is a teenage love story. This movie is not like others because it’s a teenage love story revolving mental health. Although many other movies are similar when mentioning health, this movie is all about it. Throughout the whole movie it contains clues and hints of their mental health. I adore the character development in this movie because it’s not an obvious thing that it will end the way it does. It leaves the audience at a shock. It includes characters getting better with their own mental health while the other gets worse. They fall for each other but it doesn’t last because the male commits suicide. I honestly can’t complain about any of the elements in the film. They all come together very nicely. It’s young tragic love. That eventually becomes self love. After his death the girl becomes more self aware and attempts to better her mental health. The movie takes the audience into a complete

Genre Research: My decision

For my idea I think that romance would be the best choice. Based off of my pitch I think that a romance movie would really work. Having the upbeat music and things of that sort would go great in an opening. It entertains the audience. Also it is usually appropriate for all ages. This bringing in more viewings and upping the ratings, if this were to ever be released. Not only that but it would be easier to understand my concept. Showing my idea in a clear way. It also shows social media in a positive outlook. Having happy music playing, bright sunny skies, and happy people. I really like this genre because that is usually what I watch. Growing up I always watcher romance movies with my family. It made me grow close to my grandma, mom and, aunt. We would all end up on the couch somehow watching the movie that my grandma put on. Especially around Christmas time with all the Hallmark movies. This genre is a good pick for me since I have watched so many romance movies. Gaining inspiration

It creates a build up of how people get to know each other and get to fall deeper in love. I dislike when there is an obsessive love story because I believe it shows inaccurate concepts. Making the audience believe it is ok to be obsessive.

I love seeing the backstories and how everything got to where it was.  I don't like an action packed opening just because I like to see every build up, however, I don't like when the whole movie is taken up with character growth and then the action is rushed into the ending of the film.

Genre Research: Comedy

C.A.M.S  Pov Shots  Eye Level  Wide and close shots  Close up Extreme Close Up  C.L.A.M.P.S Costumes big or small on the person  Props a lot bigger or a lot smaller than the person using them  Lighting is commonly bright natural looking light, to create a sense of happiness  Suburban areas are usual for comedy movies (Happy sunny towns)  Sound  A lot of upbeat music  Dialogue Non-Diegetic Sound  Diegetic Sound    Editing  Zoom In  Zoom Out   Examples Grown Up Free Guy The Loud House Movie  Tom and Jerry  Vivo  I think that timing is one large element in overall comedy. When doing a comedy film I would do use this to my advantage by making sure that jokes align and things in that nature. I don't like that in comedy movies directors look to specifically cast comedians. I believe that if it is a good actor then the movie will be good. When directors do this it makes people use to the same faces and it's nice to see new faces in the film world.

Pitch Blog

Image
Pitch One  A boy to a man. The first movie idea I had was about a little kid wishing to be older. He then gets his wish and turns into a grown man over night.  The opening would be a family surrounded by the table watching home films. While the films are being shown the opening words will come up. The actors in the opening would be my little brother and my step-dad. I would want to do this one because I have all the props and actors that I need, and I will be able to work on my time since for the most part they are always home. I wouldn't want to do this one because my step dad is not the best actor. However, I think since it is just the opening he wouldn't have to do much or may not even be in it.  Pitch Two  Influence  The second movie idea is about social media depicting real life. Like the real world is like one big social media app.  In this I would have to have more actors. I would do this one outside so I would have to film based off the weather and certain times so th
