Movie Convention: To All The Boys I've Loved Before P.S I Still Love You

The movie "To All The Boy's I've Loved Before P.S  I Still Love You" is the sequel Netflix original movie to "To All The Boy's I've Loved Before". Personally I liked this movie better than the first one because of the plot. I did like the element of the characters they had in this movie. The first movie had the representation of the stereotypical relationship between the jock and quiet/shy girl. In this movie the representation continues yet, it adds another character. The character added is a past childhood friend/crush of the shy girl, creating a sort of love triangle. I really like that they had this in the movie because it catches the audiences' attention. Also in a way creates a competition between the two boys, waiting to see who comes out to be her boyfriend. It creates suspension and has the audience wanting to know more about who she will end up with. I also liked the element of being in a non-perfect relationship. It shows the effects of relationships on teens and how they don't always work they way they want them to. Showing that people go through arguments and work through them. I did not like the element of the typical getting back with the person she was with the longest. I feel this adds no sort of difference between other romance movies that have a love triangle. Because the audience knows the character will eventually get back with the person they were with at the beginning of the movie. This gives the audience the mindset that it will never be the other person or even the person that seems better for the female character. It's a sort of let down. Usually in these they have the they will have the childhood crush share a special moment with the main character. In this case, this movie did. This makes the audience believe they have a chance and then gets their hopes up. I do not like this and probably would never use this method just because I feel as if people that are actually interested in romance movies will see it coming.
